Safe and Clean
The Environmental Health Service works to keep Lawrence County and nearby areas safe and healthy. We provide important services to help protect people from things like foodborne and insect-borne illnesses, while also caring for our natural resources—land, water, air, animals, and plants. Our goal is to support a strong, healthy community through education and working together.
Food Protection
The Food Protection Program provides training for food service managers, reviews food establishment plans, conducts inspections, offers employee training, and takes enforcement actions when needed.
General Environmental
The General Environmental Program works with federal, state, and local agencies to oversee public swimming pools, tourist spots, and respond to environmental complaints. It also offers public training on various environmental health topics
Private Well
The Private Well Program reviews subdivision plans, checks if sites are suitable, helps with system design, conducts inspections and sanitary surveys, and takes enforcement actions when needed.
