The Lawrence County Health Department is a community mental health program that assures and provides access to services and supports to meet the mental health needs of individuals of all ages. We work diligently, enabling them to live, work and participate in their communities. The Department establishes standards to ensure effective and culturally competent care to promote recovery, sets policies, promotes self-determination, protects human rights and supports mental health training and research. This critical mission is accomplished by working in partnership with other state agencies, individuals, families, providers and communities.

What to Know Before Your Appointment

  • Please bring the following information when arriving at your appointment: insurance cards, any copayment, proof of Income and an updated medication list .
  • A fee may be imposed for cancelled appointments unless a 24-hour notice is given.
  • Lawrence County Health Department accepts Medicaid for substance abuse services.

Sliding Fee Scale

  • Lawrence County Health Department will offer a sliding fee discount program to all who are unable to pay for their services.
  • This practice serves all patients regardless of ability to pay.
  • Discounts for essential services are offered based on family size and income.
  • Lawrence County Health Department will base program eligibility on a person’s ability to pay and will not discriminate on the basis of an individual’s race, color, sex, national origin, disability, religion, age, sexual orientation, or gender identity.
