The Lawrence County Health Department would like to invite all youth to join The BEE Hive, an after school program hosted in Lawrence County for children ages 8-17 who attend unit 10 and 20 schools.

What is The BEE Hive?

"The BEE Hive” is where youth will blossom, be educated and excel in life skills. The focus will be in 7 core service areas:

- Life Skills
- Academics
- Mentoring
- Sports/Recreation
- Service Learning
- Parent Involvement

When can my child attend?

While school is in session, the program will be offered Monday – Friday from 3:00 - 6:00 P.M.

When school is not in session, The BEE Hive still operates Monday through Friday since it is an Out of School Time Program. Out of School Time Programs offer opportunities to enhance students’ social, emotional, behavioral, physical and academic competencies so that all students can succeed in school and beyond.

Out of School Time Programs that improve academic outcomes:

  • provide a safe and supportive learning environment;
  • maximize student participation and attendance;
  • connect with school and classroom activities to achieve a shared mission of improving academic performance;
  • deliver academic instruction in a way that responds to each student’s needs and engages them in learning; and
  • assess program performance and use data to improve implementation.

Please fill out the application below and/or contact Jessica Simmons, The BEE Hive Coordinator, at 618-943-3302 ext. 5069.
